The Nigeria Super Eagles rise six places in new FIFA rankings

After consistent falling on the FIFA rankings, the Super Eagles of Nigeria took flight on the latest ratings by the international football governing body which was released on Thursday. The Nigeria national team flew six places up to 63rd on the global rankings with 540 points to sit 12th on the African continent. At the last rankings in May, the Eagles were at 69 globally but now have moved up. Algeria remained Africa’s best, moving a spot up to 32nd globally, AFCON 2015 champions, Cote d’Ivoire remained second on the continent even though it dropped two places to 36th while Ghana and Senegal moved up one and two spots respectively to rest at 37th and 41st in the world and third and fourth on the African continent. Africa’s fifth is Egypt which dropped a spot to 45th in the world and Tunisia is sixth but remained unmoved on the global rankings. Cape Verde is seventh with 49th global ranking after falling two spots to 49th, Egypt’s former spot. Congo DR is eighth on 52nd in the world. Guinea and Cameroun are ninth and tenth in Africa and 53rd and 58th respectively on the globe.
