CROATIA 2-1 SPAIN: Shock defeat for The Defending Champions as Ramos misses penalty

Spain paid dearly for their failure to take their chances in Bordeaux, as Croatia fought back to win 2-1 and inflict the Roja's first Euro loss for 12 years. The Czech Republic's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Turkey meant both sides went through in first and second place in Group D, regardless of the result. And after Alvaro Morata capped a neat team move with the opener after just seven minutes, Spain were pegged back by Nikola Kalinic shortly before half time to level proceedings. Ramos then erred from the spot to squander a golden chance to restore the lead, although Danijel Subasic looked to have taken several steps off his line as he saved the effort. The defender's error prove costly, as Ivan Perisic struck minutes from the end to rob Spain of the top spot. (Goal.com)
